      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. J'ai passé un entretien chez DCM (Toronto, ON) en mars 2026

      Entretien

Interviewed for a Business Development role and went through a lengthy hiring process that included three interview rounds, one of which was conducted in person at the Toronto office. Throughout the interview process, I received positive feedback and felt my experience, ideas, and approach were well aligned with what the team was looking for. Following the final interview, I was asked to complete a detailed take-home assignment. The assignment required creating a comprehensive business development plan outlining lead generation strategy, prospecting approach, market opportunities, and execution recommendations. In my view, the scope of the project was significant and required approximately 6+ hours of unpaid work to complete. I submitted an eight-page plan that was largely based on the same strategies and recommendations discussed during the interview process. Less than an hour after submission, I received a rejection email. When I requested feedback, I was told that my recommendations were not aligned with what the company was seeking, despite those same ideas being positively received during previous interview discussions. What concerns me most is that I have seen this position reposted numerous times over an extended period. As a candidate, it left me questioning whether the company was actively hiring for the role or whether the hiring process was being used primarily to collect strategic ideas and business recommendations from applicants. My advice to future candidates is to carefully evaluate the amount of unpaid work being requested and to ensure they are comfortable with the time investment before proceeding. PS. I had to edit this so glassdoor would post it, it could be way worse.
