30 minute phone interview with the recruiter, who was helpful and amicable the whole way through. A few days later, a 2 hour block of 4 virtual interview sessions. Two weeks later, a personalized declination from the recruiter and an invitation to give anonymous feedback.
-45 minutes with hiring manager and his boss
-30 minutes with 2 assistant VPs
-15 minutes with the VP
-30 minutes with 2 would-be peers
All except the hiring manager's boss (a director) were easygoing and pleasant. Although the overall process is rated positively, several red flags regarding this individual made this particular experience negative.
1. Multiple times after asking vague questions, this individual interrupted the interviewee's speech, stating "That's not what I asked."
2. This individual challenged the interviewee's motivation for making a career change.
3. This individual subordinated the hiring manager by referring to him using only the hiring manager's last name, such as in a military context.
This review is representative only of this specific interview and not the company as a whole. The company as a whole seems to have a smooth recruiting process. Just a reminder to be wary of what your interview experiences suggest about how a working relationship with a boss will be.
