I was directly contacted by one of the managers on LinkedIn with the position. The manager made it seem like a dream position with paid insurance benefits, flexible hours, and PTO. I had previously researched the company and found that they had a plethora of negative reviews and did not pay their freelancers. I should have been more cautious. The only requirement of the interview process was to write a “test piece” for them and be paid $50 upon its completion. I diligently wrote my piece to the best of my abilities, and not surprisingly, they stated I wasn’t a fit for the position. Although I can’t say this for certain, given the previous reviews this company has, I would be extremely weary of applying for their company. I believe they are getting writers to fall for writing for them for an extremely low fee with the gist of it being an interview piece. Let’s see if my piece pops up anywhere in a few months without my permission.

I applied online for 3 different roles. My application was not looked at until I emailed them and advised them I had a friend who worked for the company. The applications had been sitting there for weeks. I was asked to write a test piece. They gave me style guides/ other material. However, half the links did not work. I managed to somehow pass still.

Question 1
There was no formal interview. The only "Interview" was writing a test piece which was about consumer businesses and B2B, etc. You received resource material as well as style guides. As mentioned my style guides did not work .
