Odd experience. The HR interview was easy and relaxed, but during the technical interview, it seemed like there may have been a miscommunication between HR and the team interviewing me (or outright deception). The posting was for "Software Engineer II" but I was being interviewed for a senior/lead developer position. What I understand from my interviewers is that it was a position that was vacated several months ago and they were trying to fill it quickly. I had expressed that I was not at a senior engineer level, and both interviewers no longer appeared interested. I still appreciate them taking the time and answering my questions and, of course, any interviewing experience is valuable. However, it felt like I was fighting a losing battle. The actual interview started with 2 coding assessments (after I had been told in the HR call that there would not be a coding assessment), followed by technical questions with the team manager and who I assume was a senior engineer on the team.
