Initial response was quick but the interview process turned out to be quite shady and dishonest. At first contact with the recruiter, he claimed, "just to be transparent" the role is a contract position rather than a permanent one. If the company actually valued transparency, they would have included that on the listing. There is a big difference between a permanent position and a fixed-term position. If I knew, I would not have applied.. but here we are. First red flag on honesty and an example of a bait and switch hiring approach. I moved onto speaking with the hiring manager about her take on job security and company outlook, specifically about whether or not they switched the position from permanent (according to the job listing) to contract based on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. She said there were two roles, a temp and a permanent one, with me being a better fit for the permanent position based on years of experience (~3) and project exposure. There was only a single listing for this role but the market is unsteady as a result of the pandemic so I'll give the benefit of the doubt here. Next, we continued through the process and answered basic questions about background and experience. She said it seemed like a good fit and that she'd get back to me. No response after a week so I followed up. The recruiter responded within 30min and said they think I'd be better fit for a Manufacturing Associate position. At this point, this is a second bait and switch. I went from (1) applying for a permanent position to (2) a contract/temp position to (3) a 'demotion' from an Engineer role to an Associate role. Wow, my negligence and I dodged a bullet so hard. Will definitely be letting my colleagues affected by COVID-19 layoffs know. I hope my waste of time and breath will benefit future job applicants. There are better companies to work at who will at the very least, value you more than this. Lastly, their Glassdoor reviews are quite suspicious and I should've taken more warning. The first four pages, or the bulk of their reviews, were all submitted within a month which could indicate doctored reviews or at least pressure for employees to submit 'good' reviews. I hope my mistake will benefit others.

Met with HR, hiring manager and 3 adjacent team members. Pretty efficient and short. I thought it was a good experience. HR was very clear in the process, timeline and benefits. I think it would have been a good place to land
