      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Collage.com (Brighton, MI) en juill. 2017

      Entretien

Overall a very impersonal experience, which was odd considering Collage.com initiated the contact. I was initially contacted via an "Interested" connection on AngelList. I was sent a note along with it, but it was a form letter saying to apply via an application on their site. The note did have a name on it, but no one responded when I sent a reply to it. After filling out the online application, 2 days later I received a calendly.com invite with another form email, this time from a totally different person. The note did talk about the interview process: "The interview and screening should take about 45 mins to an hour. Since this will be a coding interview, you'll need an internet connection and a quiet place to work. We'll do the coding portion of the interview using a shared online editor--so no need to set up anything in advance." The interviewer could not have been less interested in conducting the interview, and I was given no indication that he actually read my resume. When he called, after "hello" he launched in to an obviously scripted spiel about the interview process. Then, he continued his scripted talk about the company. I was given an opportunity to ask questions, which I did, but the answers were perfunctory. Comparing this to several other companies I'm talking to at the moment, it was a jarring experience. The other companies initial contacts are fairly high level, and were good conversations about my background, about the company, about their role, etc. They've all been actual conversations, instead of a monologue. The technical interview, as others mentioned, is awkward, but pretty standard these days. Coding while someone is literally watching you type is not fun, but I tried the approach of talking out my thoughts as I typed, which let the interviewer know what I was thinking, and helped me get going.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

As other people mentioned, the phone screen is relating to Promises and the timing of AJAX calls.
