There is demand for interns to work for 6 months, which is also a good time to learn as much as possible. The interview is with the line manager.
Finance background is not required although preferred. The more important factor is whether the staff feels that you can fit in their teams and be a good team player.

I was not being questioned too much technicals, mostly fit questions asked by the interviewer. The interview was pretty okay and when you have done your preparations, the interview is a breeze.

I applied for Citibank China Global Markets Intern in June 2015. The first part is a 20 min written test taken in Citigroup Tower on basic numerical questions (probabilities etc). Then talked to HR about behavioral questions -- why Citi, why Global Markets, why you. Final round is to interview with the Risk Treasury head, and discuss about recent markets news.
