      Entretien

I was invited via phone call for an in person interview. I delightfully accepted and had a positive first interview. The staff seemed friendly, and I appreciated the work and mission of the organization. I was asked to send my references at the end of the interview. Shortly after I received a phone call that they would like to offer me the position. I happily accepted and later that day received an email with the official offer letter. A background check was requested which I filled out right away and thanked them for the opportunity. I let them know that I would reach out to the specified person with any questions regarding the contract, as requested in the contract. I proceeded to write a very professional email about questions and thoughts I had about the contract to initiate the negotiation process. A few hours after sending the email, I received a phone call that I was not a good fit and they would be rescinding the offer. I was given no courtesy of a conversation. I attempted to try to start a conversation to explain and let them know that despite what I may have asked for in my email, that I still would have gladly accepted the position had they not been able to accommodate anything. They had no interest in having a conversation and gave no real reason why they were taking back the offer. It was the most childish and unprofessional response I have ever experienced in all my time applying/negotiating and accepting a job offer. I felt it was an extreme disrespect of my time and my right to negotiate an offer. I would never consider applying again in the future. For an organization that strives to do such good for others, I was absolutely shocked to have been treated with such disregard, and I wonder if I would have been treated differently had I been a male requesting the negotiation rather than a female.
