After the HR reached out to me, we set a 60 minutes interview with the hiring manager. The interview itself was fair but I never heard from them again, which is a lack of respect.

I applied via LinkedIn and got an email from HR asking to schedule a first meeting. A woman from Israel called me at the scheduled time and introduced herself. After some basic questions she asked about salary requirement and I gave her a number that I based not only on current market conditions but also on my personal knowledge of the challenges of working with an Israeli company as a non-Israeli based in the US (for example, Israel work week goes from Sunday through Thursday and that creates its own problems). She duly noted down my salary requirement and suggested that I meet with the hiring manager it the next few days. When it was my turn to ask a question I asked her about the company culture. Oddly, she deflected by saying that I should probably ask that to the hiring manager. What kind of HR person isn't able to talk about the company culture?? This is a prime HR type of question. Anyway, I gave her a day and time I would be free for a first round interview and she said she would get back to me. Next day I receive an email saying that they have decided not to move forward. I am almost 100% sure that it's due to my salary requirement, which could be too high for some startups. This is fine, but it is strange that HR was unable to address it on the spot. This is a huge red flag in my view (the second red flag after the company culture question). Bottom line is that they seem disorganized. Of course, they are a new company (only 4-5 years old) but its probably not a place for experienced candidates looking for a solid company to join.
