A Complete Waste of Time – Unprofessional Hiring Process, Lack of Inclusivity & Poor Work Location" I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Caterpillar’s hiring process, and I feel it’s important to share this so that other job seekers can make an informed decision before applying. Based on my experience, this company does not value candidates’ time, nor do they uphold basic professionalism when it comes to recruitment. Worse, their lack of inclusivity and awareness of diversity issues was glaringly obvious throughout the process. To top it off, their work location is highly inconvenient, making it even less appealing as a place to work. A Time-Consuming Process with No Respect for Candidates From the beginning, I invested a significant amount of time preparing for the interviews, as the role seemed like a great fit based on the job description. I went through multiple rounds, engaging with different interviewers and answering detailed technical and behavioral questions. I made sure to be prompt, professional, and well-prepared, hoping that the company would extend the same level of courtesy. However, despite being told that I would receive a response within 1–2 weeks, that deadline passed without any communication from their side. I followed up, only to receive vague, generic responses that provided no real update about my application status. It became clear that they either had no intention of following up properly or simply didn’t care enough to do so. This level of disorganization and lack of professionalism in the hiring process is unacceptable, especially from a company of this size and reputation. If a company cannot even respect candidates’ time, how can they be trusted to value their employees? A Workplace Culture That Lacks Diversity & Inclusivity Beyond the frustratingly inefficient hiring process, what stood out even more was the company’s clear lack of inclusivity. The interview panel was not diverse in any way, and there were subtle but noticeable comments and attitudes that made me question their commitment to fostering a truly inclusive work environment. During my interactions, I got the impression that they are still operating with an outdated mindset, failing to embrace the diversity and progressiveness that many leading companies today prioritize. There was little effort to make the interview feel welcoming or to showcase that they are actively working towards creating a more inclusive workplace. In 2025, this is simply unacceptable. A company of this scale should be setting an example, not lagging behind. Inconvenient Work Location in an Industrial Area As if the hiring process and company culture weren’t bad enough, their work location is also extremely inconvenient. The office is situated in a remote industrial area with poor accessibility, making it a hassle for employees to commute daily. There are limited public transport options, and the surrounding area lacks decent amenities like food options or other conveniences that most professionals would expect from a workplace. It’s clear that little thought has been given to the comfort and convenience of employees, further reinforcing my negative impression of the company. Final Thoughts – Would Not Recommend Applying Here My experience with Caterpillar’s hiring process was a complete waste of time. They failed to communicate professionally, showed no respect for candidates’ efforts, and left me with serious concerns about their workplace culture. On top of that, their office is located in a highly inconvenient industrial area, making the prospect of working there even less appealing. If you value transparency, professionalism, inclusivity, and a decent work environment, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. There are many companies that treat candidates—and employees—with the respect they deserve. Unfortunately, Caterpillar does not seem to be one of them.
