2 person panel- very tick box exercise and criteria focussed. Didn’t seem very personal. A little condescending even! I felt a bit humiliated at points. It was quite casual and done over video call.

This interview relates to a position within Cardiff Business School. I was informed via email that I had been shortlisted and invited to attend an interview on site. The date of the interview was scheduled for approximately two and a half weeks after the initial contact. I was informed this would consist of a 30 minute panel interview. The panel consisted of three people, including the staff member who would be acting as a line manager for the successful candidate. The atmosphere was welcoming whilst remaining professional, and all of the questions and discussion were relevant to the job description and criteria. At the end of the interview (which took place on a Friday), the interview chair informed me that a decision would be made later that day and that I would receive a call back on Monday regardless of the outcome. I received a call from the chair on the following Monday, who advised that I had not been selected for the role. Some general feedback was provided during this phone call. I asked if it would be possible to receive any further feedback specific to my application and interview. The chair was able to send me an email later that day which provided some useful and specific advice based on my interview. Although I was not selected for the role, I really appreciated the clear communication and willingness to provide feedback.
