Overall, an extremely unprofessional recruiting experience. I had a very positive impression of CarMax until the recruiting process. I applied for the position on LinkedIn, and about 30 minutes later the recruiter from CarMax texted me to set up a call for that afternoon. The agreed upon time came, and I got a text 5 minutes later stating he was running late, and we could do it at the top of the hour. The top of the hour came, and 12 minutes after the call was supposed to start, I got another text from the recruiter stating the hiring manager was pushing back my resume, questioning if I had any .net and React experience. I checked my resume, ".net" is mentioned 26 times, C# is mentioned 6 times, React is mentioned 1 time. The recruiter explicitly stated in the text, "We are a dot net shop." It appears that neither the hiring manager nor the recruiter read my resume. I clarified in text that yes, I've been working with .Net as my primary platform for long over a decade. The recruiter then set up another call for 9am the next morning. The recruiter ghosted me for the final attempt to have an initial call the following morning. I never heard from him, nor did I receive a text, even after I texted him to update my availability for the day. Note to CarMax: If you don't want to talk, that's fine, please don't waste my time, and be professional.
