This company has a lot to learn about talent attraction and interviewing. After submitting your resume, you will be asked to complete a time consuming written interview. If you have questions and send an email to the hiring advisor, you will not get a response. The method of communication is standard email templated communications. Talk about taking the human out of the process! The process is very cold. On the written interviews, be prepared to discuss, in length, details about your high school and university education.. details. This may be relevant for entry level roles but not important for experienced professionals with a track record of success. Experience is more important than details about what your favorite subjects were in high school. Major red flag to stay away from this company. If this is how they treat candidates, the employee experience probably is not good.

I recently completed an extensive interview process with Canonical - including written, cognitive, and behavioural assessments, followed by six one-hour interviews. While the process was long, it was also well-organized, and I appreciated the transparency about what to expect. I met several exceptionally smart and kind leaders throughout the process - people who were candid about the company’s challenges with culture, change management, and leadership capability. It was clear they’re working hard in a fast-paced, complex environment, but the culture feels more mechanistic than human-centered. Canonical’s systems and analytical rigor are impressive, but its leadership philosophy seems to treat people as components in a process rather than as partners in success. That may drive efficiency in the short term but could create cultural and engagement issues as the organization continues to scale. Pros: - Highly structured and predictable interview process - Clear communication - Intellectually impressive, capable colleagues Cons: - Culture feels mechanistic and impersonal - Limited emphasis on empathy, leadership development, or change management - Leadership appears to value data over dialogue

      Question 1

One question that stood out was: “How do you lead a group to consensus when there are many differing opinions—for instance, on a policy you want to implement?”

Didn't get past the online application form. Stopped in my tracks and laughed out loud when they asked for my high school math and english grades. They were serious. Then I came here to GD to see what their reviews were like. A 3.1* with only 50% recommend to a friend after a LABORIOUS interview/hiring process. Hmm - I wonder if there's a culture problem here? So I promptly used the next two open text boxes to politely sell myself to them on how I could help them improve their culture and that perhaps they'd be better off focusing on the impact the individual has made in their recent life. Needless to say, I got the "auto-rejection" email within a day. Can't say for sure, but doesn't sound like a great place to work.
