Hello. Thank you for your application and moving through our interview process even though you did not receive an offer on this occasion. For the written interview we do not stipulate length, instead leaving this open for each applicant to submit as they see fit. To be clear, only certain roles will require an interview with the CEO. He is really invested and interested in the talent we invite to be part of our story which is great!

I love Canonical products and have been a user of Ubuntu for over a decade. I was excited to interview here. While everyone was nice and all conversations were interesting, the process was so overwhelmingly bad I couldn't recommend anyone apply here in good conscience . For context I have over a decade of industry experience and this process took over 4 months, by far the longest process I've ever been a part of. I had to do a lenghty written interview (including a weirdly large amount of questions about my high school experience, from about 15 years ago) before even interacting with an interviewer. I also had to do multiple take-home personality/strength assessments. Process seemed to be bad on both ends, at least one interviewer wasn't sure what I was interviewer for until we sat down together. I asked for a salary range early on and was told they make bespoke offers based on interviews. However after spending about 6-7 hours on interview components they asked for my availability for "late stage" interviews, and before I could response said they were not extending an offer. I asked the reason for the sudden change and they said my salary expectations were too high. No counter offer or anything, and context and what I should expect at various stages were never provided unless I asked explicitly. I still like the product and enjoyed everyone I spoke with, I know not getting a job is a risk, but this was a waste of my time and was frankly rude and disrespectful.
