      Entretien pour Clinical Director

      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez CHRISTUS Health (Tyler, TX) en août 2025

      Entretien

I applied for a director position at Christus Health. I went through three different phases of the interview process, each time requiring me to take time away from my current job. I was very transparent with my current job, letting them know that I am trying to advance in my career; they fully supported me in this endeavor. At one point in the third phase of the interview process, I had to wait 30 minutes to meet with the three of the assistant chief nursing officers. They did apologize for the wait as I understand how hospital issues work. Despite all the time invested in the interview process, I didn't get an offer. Their reason is because they preferred someone with more leadership experience. This job listing states that a minimum of 2-3 years of leadership experience is needed. Not only have I had 5 years of clinical leadership experience in a full director role, I have had more than 20 years in a leadership-type role (charge nurse, house supervisor, team leader). I believe that in my interviews, I may have been too "pro-nurse" in my answers. As a leader, my desire is to advocate fiercely for nurses on the front lines of patient care because my belief is that "happy nurses make happy patients." I am disappointed that I spent so much time going through the process despite having the full qualifications of the position. I'm disappointed that my passion for nurse (and patient) advocacy may have been seen as a weakness. I am not a "yes" (wo)man. I am committed to my values regarding nurse and patient advocacy and if they can't see the value in that, then I am grateful that I don't get an offer. I will stay where I'm at where I KNOW voices are heard and sometimes changes are made based on that feedback.
