Extremely negative Interview Experience.
Perhaps the worst in my 10+ years experience. Ironically if an HR professional has such a negative experience I wonder about the others. I had 8 rounds (of which 5 were actual interviews) and 3 interactions to check my background. They confirmed that i have been selected for the role, called my papers, initiated BGV and then ghosted me. The mistake I made was to willingly and honestly let them know that a family member is in a competing firm because i am an HR professional and integrity for me is an important value. However, I told the hiring manager about this in the 2nd round, and yet they took 6 rounds after that, told me i am selected and called for my salary documents and then never got back.
The "HR for HR" is clueless every-time I reach out all he can say is "its taking time" and the time here is almost 2 months after the background check was initiated. So in total after investing over 3 months in this so called "MOST VALUABLE STARTUP" they did not have the decency to close the conversation in a professional manner. Even if you decided not to go ahead because of Conflict of interest or because of any other reason at-least have the decency to update the candidate formally.
Do you think candidates interview for "FUN" like they have not invested time and effort on preparation etc ?
All I can say is that candidate experience is the most important aspect in today's Talent War and you all do need a sensible HR leader to ensure that. Good luck with that.

Overall 30 minutes. Starting with self introduction. 2-3 questions regarding general HR/ HRBP knowledge. Mainly focused on previous experience/ internship and related “what if” questions. Wrapped up with questions about the company.

smooth and professional. The length of the internship (here I made a stupid mistake, I answered that I could intern until September. When asked if I had considered the university's recruitment situation, I answered yes. Turn around and be scolded by HR friend.

The WORST interview experiences I had so far.
I had interview with Bytedance 3 times..
Basically all Recruiters and interviewers were ghosted without given any further update.. Some even told me to provide interview slots for next round, then literally disappeared after I replied to them. Which is very disappointed and make me wonder are they doing the same thing to other candidates and wasting people’s time pretty often?
Furthermore, I was wait until the last minute (in the interview) to realized that I was process with a totally different position. Please can you guys align together before reaching out to your candidates? Home come a company’s Recruiters can be such unprofessional...?!
ByteDance may providing great tech but if you don’t do something to change & improve the hiring process, this may hurting your own corporate branding in the end.
We sincerely apologize for your interview experience. We take our candidate experience seriously and value our candidates' time and effort; your experience clearly does not align with the standards we set for our recruiters. We will communicate with HR about your experience and will try to solve this problem for candidates in the future. We hope you will consider applying to other positions that may interest you, and please reach out to us at global-oc@bytedance.com if you have more feedback.
