The first portion was completed over the phone with a lovely and competent woman who arranged a time to meet in person. When we met I immediately told her that I realized I submitted a copy of my resume through Indeed that did not reflect my most recent job, and that I could send the updated version as soon as I got home. I went over the details of where I was currently working and why it isn’t the right opportunity for me at this time.
She proceeded to give me a tour of the facility and introduce me to the other techs. This gave me the opportunity to ask them questions and get a feel for the work flow. At this point, I was feeling pretty confident about both myself in this office. It was at that point she told me she wanted me to meet the practice administrator.
As soon as I walked in the office my heart sunk. The practice administrator was the sister of a tech I knew years ago. She didn’t seem to recognize me, if she did she kept it to herself.
She once interviewed me to work for a well known spine doctor in Boca and because she knew I was a single parent was extremely inappropriate.
The interview started with her looking me up and down and snapping, ‘are you vaccinated’?, and then proceeded to pick apart my resume in the most degrading way. Never once did she ask about a skill, what I would do in a scenario, why I love being a tech.... she grilled me on the dates I worked at each job and why I was at one only for a year, another for 2 years, and at my most recent why front desk duties are included as part of the job. Her tone was accusatory.
The final question, what are your salary expectations? As soon as I uttered my current rate of pay she cut me off with an quick OK well we have other people to interview, and the prices ended just like that.
If Boca Raton Orthopedic Group offered me what I asked for, I’d turn down the offer. I would not be interested in working for a woman like this.
