The first round was a phone interview with a lady from HR. She asked basic questions such as "Why are you interested in finance?", "Discuss a piece of recent financial news.", and questions about my current job. The interview lasted roughly half an hour. The next day I went to their office and spoke with a team leader. He asked competency questions such as "Tell me about a time that you had to be creative" and "What is your leadership style?"; some technical stuff such as "given the current economy, would you invest in short-term or long-term bonds?". Then I shadowed an analyst at his station for about 10-15mins. I got called back for a third round within couple of hours leaving their office. The third round was with a manager and a sales team leader, and was also the most difficult interview in my opinion. A lot of financial knowledge was asked, e.g. Why does Google refuse to issue debt? Why would some companies have a much higher P/E than others? Of course there were the classic questions such as "Why do you want to work for Bloomberg?" as well. I think the interview lasted about 45 minutes. They said they would get back to me within a few days, but they never did. I wrote to HR and received a generic "thanks but no thanks" email. They didnt provide any feedback even though I wrote back asking for it, which gave me quite a poor impression of their HR. None of the interviewers ever gave me their business cards either. My advice is to really brush up on financial news and knowledge before you go in. You also need to convince them that you REALLY want to work for Bloomberg. Good luck!
