Got headhunted by HR on LinkedIn. Received the JD and sent her my CV. A first call with HR was set up and was asked about my experiences/questions about the job. Was told there will be 3 rounds with the team in China. Second interview was set up few days later promptly with an analyst in China. He asked about my experiences and also, gave some technical questions on SQL/Tableau and analysis on some pseudo project. Everything went presumably went.
Here's the thing that went so wrong. One day after the interview with the analyst in China, I received a Whatsapp message from the HR and said I've been shortlisted for the next round and asked me for my time schedules. Three hours later, I received another message from her and she said after internal discussion, they increased their standards and will not proceed with my application. This is so unprofessional. Firstly, the choice of words. So did she mean I was below their standards when they first shortlisted me for the next round? Secondly, if there wasn't any internal discussions previously, why did she inform me I was shortlisted?
I feel this shows a lot about the company in general, especially the manner which they will treat their employees. I didn't believe what the reviews on Glassdoor said as I had a great experience in my two calls with them, but now I believe it. Do yourself a favour and not apply for this company if you don't want a HR/company that can twist their words in a matter of few hours. Yes, Binance is quite a big company but this lack of professionalism clearly degraded my views on the company. Shame on the HR.
Recommendations to the company/CEO, take a proper assessment on your current pool of employees especially in the HR department.
