      Entretien pour Country Representative

      2 mai 2016
      Candidat à l'entretien anonyme
      Genève
      Aucune offre
      Expérience neutre
      Entretien difficile

      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Better Work (Genève) en juin 2013

      Entretien

Over the phone online (Skype) rather than flying me out in person; after several one-on-one interviews by HR and team leaders over 2 weeks, a team of 12 people interviewed me over Skype; very sharp and pointed questions. There were no pleasantries, and it felt very formal- a bit like a firing line. Half of the interview was in French, half in English. I was in a country where the internet was very poor and the Skype call for the interview kept dropping out. Several times I had to call back into the conference line; I reconnected twice, and the interviewing team seemed very irritated with the line-drops. After attempting to reconnect for 30 minutes, I sent an email. They never replied to the email, nor did they follow up to complete the interview. It would have been much better to have undertaken the interview in person, rather over Skype remotely. I had voiced my concerns about the veracity of the internet connection in my location prior to the call, and this was not addressed, nor acknowledged. Given the high level of this position for which I was interviewing, and that it was the 4th interview, I would expect an in-person interview with the ILO. I think it is important to take the time and utilize resources appropriately for big hires. I was shocked that there were no responses to my email or follow up. It seemed almost as if my character or quality as an applicant was being judged according to the communications capacity available in the country in which I was working at the time. To be honest, the way the interview process was handled signaled to me that this was not the place for me, so I let it drop.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

Questions were very specific to the labor laws in the country for which this role was intended; questions over terms of trade, economic development strategies, small and medium business models. Half the interview (while I was connected) was in English, half was in French.
