Started with a broken link to schedule a phone screening sent by a recruiter who never apologized and just suggested a time to talk instead. We had a phone screening which felt unprepared and more like a sales pitch. Then several days later I was asked to move forward to yet another screening with another recruiter. Right before that was to occur, the recruiter emailed to ask if I was okay with the salary range, which had overnight changed to much less than offered originally with no explanation given other than "that's the salary range we can offer at this time." I said yes as I was interested in the company but asked if compensation would be negotiable after a 90 day period since it was much less than the area average for this kind of role. I got the run around and the recruiter asked again if I was sure I wanted to move forward. After that, I decided to leave the process as it felt like they didn't want me to want to move forward and were okay offering candidates much less than they were worth while being a hybrid role in one of the most expensive cities in the country.
