      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 1 semaine. J'ai passé un entretien chez Ateam (Nagoya, ) en janv. 2020

      Entretien

From the time of applying to interview took about a week. I was told to wait in the Lobby, at the designated time I was met by 2 members of the localization team. I was greeted in English. The 1st two interviewers were polite, but I could not understand another guy so well. His English accent blended into his Japanese speaking. It was difficult to understand him. Shortly after going to a meeting room for an interview, we spoke in Japanese for about 10-15 minutes. Then we switched to English for about 15 to 20 mins. After which, one person left and 2 others came in. Its was kinda weird, but they said it was to speed up the interview process. Instead of having 4 or 5 interviews. The General manager walked in with a Japanese member of the localization team. They were both polite. I was then asked the same questions again, and had to explain them in Japanese. I was then asked by the Japanese member of the localization team,if I knew what the names of the games they produced. I did not know. She asked me what genre of games I was interested in. I was not afraid to say so, but I knew this was a strike against me, because the atmosphere of the room changed. I could tell she was not happy about that, or the types of games I was interested in. After this question, it was all down hill from here. After this change of atmosphere, I was asked about what a company employee in Japan was, and what is expected of them. I was so nervous I completely missed the question and was not able to be concise about this. It completely ruined my chances, but I figured i would try to push on, and at least leave a good impression. Overall, I thought my experience in marketing and translation would carry a little more weight, but my speaking ability is more of casual speaking. I believe it was not good enough. I was unable to make it past the 1st interview. ADVICE to future applicants, be able to speak really good Business Style Japanese. Be on top of your game, and research the company more than I did.
