      Entretien

The job description disclosed that they were a startup, and as someone who has grown with a startup, I was ready for the challenge (despite the lower-than-market-rate pay). However, I could tell from the start of the process that there was a lot of disorganization. I was notified via Indeed messages that I was being invited for an interview. I noticed it over the weekend a day late as it got lost in my notifications. The message was from the Director of Recruitment and instructed me to schedule an appointment with one of her staff members. I scheduled it for Tuesday to be kind as they wouldn't see my message till Monday. Upon the first interview, the interviewer (who was very kind) disclosed that she didn't know she was going to be running the interview. She assumed the director would. She did her best and was very cordial. I was reached out a day or two later by the director that I would be moving to the next phase. The next phase would be a project that entailed mapping out two separate projects - a 1-year project (I used an example from a previous company) and a 2-week project (a project they needed help with). She stated that I could add slides, etc, and that I would be presenting it to their CEO. Mind you, this information was sent to me on a Friday afternoon. I did appreciate that they at least gave me till Tuesday to complete the exercise. I worked on the activity for several hours, creating slides and careful documentation. I sent this off Tuesday morning to their team. A day later, I was reached out by the director to schedule an interview to go over my project with the CEO. Due to scheduling, I was not able to schedule my interview till the following Monday morning at 8:00 am PST (I am in pacific time). Now comes this morning where I log onto my computer, ready to set up my camera and notes for my interview when I see an email in my inbox from the director LESS THAN AN HOUR before my scheduled interview. She informed me that due to "budgetary concerns" that they would be holding the job for now and that they were thinking of merging it with their Director of Operations job posting. The interview was cancelled as well. While her email was cordial, this experience was incredibly rude and dishonest. I put in actual time for a project, was not awarded an interview or even pay for that work. Not to mention, cancelling less than an hour before. I suspect this job was never real to begin with. Even so, it is clear they are completely disorganized and dishonest. Trust is essential in the interview process. The trust was completely lost for me after this process and I would worry about what other things they would be dishonest about if I was employed with them. Proceed with EXTREME caution.
