I found the interview process to be cold and demeaning. Amica uses HireVue for the first part of the process. They ask you 9 questions via video recording. This is a one sided process. You have to record your answers and send it to them for review. You do not speak to a person face to face. You are at an extreme disadvantage not being able to converse with the interviewer, see their body language, and have the ability to expand your answers. This system seems to make it very easy for the employer to discriminate against the applicant, for any reason, without even having to see them face to face. I made it past the video interview, and was asked to fill out an application with a "writing sample". I had to write an essay about 3 qualities I had that would be beneficial to the job. I'm figuring that next I'll have to submit to a coloring test to see if I can stay within the lines. I completed the requested employment application / essay, and received confirmation that Amica had received them. About 2 weeks later I email HR for status and receive a reply that my request was forwarded to a manager for review. It's been another week and I still have not received a reply from the manager. I worked previously for another nationwide insurer doing the same line of work, so I have the qualifications. My best guess is they passed on me due to age and/or salary. A simple rejection email would have sufficed. If Amica touts such great customer service, why would you treat a prospective employee in such a cold fashion. I could only imagine what the current employees are subjected to on a daily basis. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones after all and didn't get to work for them....
