Amazon has a great interview process. Which is documented and detailed online to allow applicants to study the format of the interview and prepare. Which is what I did, roughly 5 full days worth of preparation, aligned with the advice I had been given from the recruiter and all the information online. This equated to about 40 pages worth of notes. All prepared for my 6 x 1 hour back to back interview “loop” as they call it. On the day I felt really good, and felt as though I answered the questions exactly in line with the directives.
Unfortunately, the team that interviewed me (partner operations team), did not follow their own guidelines at all. The feedback that gave, as to why I didn’t get the job, was completely contradictory to all the advice given online in regards to “how to answer questions during the interview”.
It’s a shame this team can’t follow their own companies internal processes, as Amazon have obviously put a lot of effort into all the online documentation and preparing an interview process which all staff should follow.
