What interview process? There isnt one, theres an old saying that if something seems too good to be true then it probably is. You apply online and before you know it youve signed a handful of legal documents and declarations without being given any real direction or insight into what the job actaully consists of. You're rushed in for a drug and alcohol swab, thrown back into the pit of applicants and told to wait to receive more emails and agreements to sign (still none the wiser as to what youre getting yourself in for). Due to the coronavirus you'd assume that a company as world renowned as Amaozon would be squeaky clean in line with regulations and safety, what youll be met with is groups of men sat with poorly fitted masks around their faces barely covering their mouths, ordering people to sit and wait around for something to happen. They may even throw you out in the cold for an hour whilst they bicker and argue between themselves about too many applicants sitting amongst each other (in which case dont book so many drug and alcohol screenings at one time). Once youre thrown into the cold none the wiser as to whats actually happening you'll receive more emails containing, yes you've guessed it! More legal documents to sign off, if at this point you havent figured out your about to be invited aboard a slave ship then I dont know what to tell you, because thats exactly what this is. I imagine a lot of people out of sheer desperation, sign everything handed to them without paying much mind as to what theyre actually signing, READ THE DOCUMENTATION. Youre only granted a full wage after you've completed a set mandatory amount of hours, you'll be charged for van hire and fuel without any guarantee of any work, which is stated in your "contract". Theres a lot of really viable information on here regarding what they tell you you'll earn and what you'll actually earn so I wont ramble on about the ACTUAL hourly rate after youve had you pants pulled down and done an 80 hour week. Oh and then you'll be charged by a third party company to deal with your Tax and NI contributions, they dont pay it for you they just tell you how much to put aside, you'll then need to register as a self employed sole trader and pay your own contributions that way. Youll end up stuck with a van you cant afford that you've paid your own diesel on, frightened to miss a days work for fear of losing everything youve got, and still being in debt with your so called employer for a van you cant afford to pay because they've guaranteed you NO WORK WHAT SO EVER.
