I recently interviewed with Altercall for the position of a Fullstack developer and i was moved to the next step which is a technical assessment involving the development of an meal and fitness recommendation app using Next.js, AWS, and GPT-4 for AI recommendations. The interview process consisted of multiple stages, including a technical assessment and interviews with the team and CTO. Initially, I was excited about the opportunity and dedicated a considerable amount of time and effort to complete the assessment. Despite the sleepless nights, I successfully passed the assessment and moved on to the next stages. The technical interview with the team went smoothly, and I felt confident about my performance. Likewise, the final interview with the CTO was a pleasant and engaging discussion. Throughout the process, there was consistent communication, and I received positive feedback from the team. However, my enthusiasm quickly turned into disappointment when the communication abruptly ceased after the final interview. Despite being assured that I would receive feedback and a response within a reasonable timeframe, weeks passed without any updates. I followed up with the R&D Associate contact, whom I had been communicating with throughout the process, but received no response. I even reached out to the CTO and the Lead Infrastructure Engineer, but unfortunately, my efforts were met with silence. This lack of communication and follow-up left me feeling disheartened and undervalued as a candidate. I had invested a significant amount of energy and effort into the interview process, only to be left in the dark without any closure. While I understand that not every candidate may be the right fit for a role, the least that can be expected is clear and timely communication regarding the outcome of the interview process. Unfortunately, my experience with Altercall fell short in this regard. I hope that by sharing my experience, the company can take steps to improve their communication practices and provide better support to candidates throughout the hiring process. Pros: Interesting role and project. Engaging discussions during interviews. Cons: Lack of communication and follow-up. Disappointment and frustration due to unresponsiveness post-interview. Advice to Management: Implement clearer communication protocols for providing feedback to candidates. Respect candidates' time and effort by providing timely updates on their application status. Overall, my experience with Altercall was overshadowed by the lack of communication and follow-up, ultimately leaving me disappointed with the outcome of the interview process.
