      Entretien

A posting for this position was on their website. I emailed them and got a response the same day. We set up an interview for the next week. While it is a showroom position (which is located in TriBeCa, it was required that I go out to Long Island to their studio space for the interview. When I arrived I was greeted and toured around the space where all the lighting was made which is incredibly insightful regarding how their lights are made. When we got their office, the official interview began which lasted maybe 20 minutes. They never asked any challenging questions nor did they seem interested once sitting down at the table to hash things out and discuss qualifications. The crux of it all is their disinterestedness became apparent to me when there was a long pause and one of the principals stated "well, you definitely have the qualifications," as if to seem interested in me or my ability to work in their showroom, when they clearly where not. I was expecting it to be more formal considering the notoriety they've received in recent years. They also requested that I do a day of work in their showroom to prove I was worthy of the position to which I said that I would be happy to. The feeling I got from the whole thing was it looked like they had a solid product but were simply a bunch of kids that so happened to run a 10 million dollar company. Nice people, was not particularly impressed with the interview process.
