The recruiter was fast to reply to my application and gave me a short phone call only days after submitting to schedule a first interview. Already on this first call I noticed they stand true to their company values. They were very committed to keep the interview process short although it was in the middle of summer vacation time. The recruiter regularly stayed in contact with me throughout the whole process. It was a very friendly and nice atmosphere altogether. The first interview was a group video call with the recruiter and hiring manager. The second interview took place in person at their offices in Gießen, where I met with the hiring manager, the division head, and another HR manager. I had to introduce myself and talk about my motivation applying for this job. Prior to the second interview I had to complete an online personality assessment test, which we discussed during the interview - I also received the results before the interview, which was very helpful. At the end of the interview we discussed salary and were not abler to come to an agreement - I already knew from the very first phone call that my expectations were higher than what they were able to pay, but unfortunately their range was so tight that we were not able to find a good middle ground. I had hoped there would be more room for negotiation, but I quickly realized they were not willing or able to negotiate - (There was no good information I could base my salary expectation on, so I went with my minimum expectation, which reflects my current salary, and which - according to reports on Glassdoor - seemed to make sense. I was surprised to be off by 15k. While I lowered my expectation in the initial negotiation by 5k and would've been willing to lower monetary compensation for other benefits, the best they could do was raising their offer by 2k and no real benefits that would set them apart from other companies.). Overall, great interview process, great atmosphere, great job, but our salary expectations were too far off. I had a final phone call with the recruiter and got a final job offer, but I had to refuse.
