Got a call from the recruiter advising my profile has strongly matched with the HRBP role and hence they would like to schedule an interview. I attended the interview conducted by one person who is already in HRBP role. The interview was very basic and dry. The interviewer from start seemed not very interested in the interview and was quite busy looking at his laptop doing some work than actually being cautious of an interview being conducted and engaging with the applicant.
I was confirmed over the phone that i have the closest matching profile and things are looking good for me. I was advised that upon resuming office in first week of January 2019 things will progress further in terms of process and i will be kept up to date. Quite disappointing to see that despite days and weeks of following up on email and several phone calls, no one ever responded with an update, and to my surprise the system status was suddenly changed to "Unsuccessful" towards last week of Jan 2019. Several learning's here:
- Do not misuse your brand name to exploit people's professionalism.
- If you invite someone for an interview show equal engagement and interest as the applicant has shown towards your organisation.
- An applicant must be never interviewed by his/her peers, as it is professionally unethical and reflects a sense of biasness in decision making should an applicant reflect higher experience/expertise.
- If there are internal politics driving selection of a candidate, then do not invite applicants for charade interviews.
