6 HOURS! Looked like a good company from the market perspective so I sent them my resume. a couple days later the recruiter/sales manager called to phone interview and scheadule a site interview. So far so good. I got there exactly on time and waited 45M for the Sales Manager / Recruiter to see me. After 45M an assistant came out and apologized for the delay and took me to a little 'test room'. She explained that I would be doing math, written and typing tests for the next hour and 1/2. I politely asked why I was left waiting 45M if I could of started this when I first got there. She snickered and said we have other candidates.
The tests were elementary school level e.g. "You have 100 pencils, they cost .15c each your customer wants to buy 1000 at a .2c discount what is the total order cost." I thought you’re kidding me and politely asked is this really necessary. She said yes and I sheepishly looked at her saying but it’s like 4th grade level. At this point I wanted to get up and leave but genuinely wanted to speak to a real person and learn about the company. After apx 1hr I was taken to the first round of interviews.
My interview took place in what I can only describe as a Broom Closet. It was windowless and filled with old boxes and assorted other crap. The first person to interview me was not the person I spoke with on the phone. She gave me her name but did not explain her position I assumed she was another assistant. The interview questions were easy but good in rapid fire order. After about 45m of questions she asked me if I had any questions. “What is your position here?” I asked and at that point she gave me an embarrassed smile and apologized for not letting me know she was the Training Manager and would be my direct supervisor if I took the job. I asked when would I meet the person I spoke with on the phone and she responded you won’t be meeting her today we are busy with ‘other candidates’ I was getting the feeling this was a round robin of at least 5 other potential employees. She said I will send in the next interviewer and was gone.
The second person was VERY nice and helpful and at this point I had been there 3 hours but I wasn’t upset mostly amused an curious. The second person was a senior manager with a veteran team and had a true dialog with me about the job I felt relived there was someone with a brain in the office and thought I want to work for you if I take this job. That interview lasted for another 45M
Finally the Sales Manager / Recruiter I spoke with on the phone came in but it was only to introduce herself and see how things were going. I liked her and finally felt like I had a friend somewhere rooting for me. She disappeared and sent in the VP of sales.
The VP of sales also apologized for me being there so long and all the delays. She seemed competent but at this point I just wanted to get out of there I was thinking I have to pick up my kids in an hour. We had another normal dialogue for about 30-45m and asked if I had any questions. At this point I knew basically everything there was to know about the job and no one had discussed salary or compensation except in a general way. “ You are paid a base + a bonus” I found out the absolute maximum is $45k and I said that’s my absolute minimum and wanted the chance to make up to double that. She said no way it doesn’t happen and I said but this is a sales job it doesn’t matter how much effort or how hard I work? She snidely replied NO and I got the feeling maybe she didn’t even make that much.
A week later I got a ‘rejection’ letter which I simply circular filed.

I applied online via their website. I got a call from one of their recruiters to set up a video interview. Then I was set up for an in-person interview with 4 different sales managers. Then a brief phone interview with the head of the sales department. A few days later I was called and formally offered the position. The whole process took about 2-3 weeks.
