      Entretien

I was contacted by a recruiter who scheduled an interview with basic/typical questions. Then, the interview was followed by a technical phone interview. The recruiter failed to confirm a time for the technical interview and, therefore, I was surprised when a hiring manager called without notice. The technical interview consisted of about 30 qualitative electrical engineering questions, some of which are very specific.

      Question 1

I don't remember specific interview questions, but there seemed to be an excessive use of abbreviations and acronyms that are not common in the industry-at least in my experience. They were definitely wanting someone with more experience for what was advertised as an entry-level position.

      Entretien

I received a follow up to my application about 15 days after applying. HR sent me a packet to fill out that included questions about my availability, and a few behavioral style questions. Two weeks later I was scheduled for a phone interview. I was sent another document which contained a lot of helpful preparation guidelines for my interview. It contained many sample questions, which I appreciated and spent a fair amount of time preparing for. These questions were all behavioral style questions, and this document explicitly instructed me to prepare for a behavioral interview. When the phone interview began, we briefly exchanged pleasantries and introduced ourselves. Without any segue or transition, the interviewer begins. "If I have a constant current through a capacitor, then what is the voltage?". This was a technical interview in a lightning round kind of format. Fair enough. I did the best I could for being completely in a different frame of mind. The questions weren't unreasonable, but about halfway through I leveled with the interviewer. I told him that I was told to prepare for a behavioral interview, and that I spent time doing so, and was a little unprepared. His response came off as if this was some combination of amusing and intentional. Feeling tricked and like my time was wasted left a bad taste in my mouth. Responses to my follow-up emails were at first patronizing and eventually I was ghosted. I received no feedback on my interview performance. It was almost 2 months between my interview and my application status being listed as rejected.
