      Entretien

Interviewing with this company felt more like navigating a series of red flags than exploring a serious career opportunity. The entire process was like a lesson in what to avoid when evaluating potential employers. Over a period of three weeks, I completed three rounds of interviews, including a final one with the hiring manager, and was later asked to submit a small assignment within a tight deadline. Despite adjusting my schedule to meet this request and putting a lot of time into the assignment to submit it a day earlier than requested, I received no follow-up communication from anyone. Multiple attempts to contact both the recruiter and the hiring manager in the following weeks went unanswered. This lack of response is inexcusable, especially after the final interview stage. It also underscores a company culture that disregards professionalism and shows little respect for candidates and the overall interview process. During the second-round panel interview, several red flags should have hinted at underlying problems within the company. Most questions focused on how I would handle difficult or underperforming team members. However, there was no focus on K-12 curricula or instructional design which was a surprising oversight given the role’s focus. One particularly odd question was about handling a remote employee caught drinking alcohol during a virtual meeting. Another odd interaction was during the final interview. The hiring manager stated that she was the company’s first employee but then went on to say that she would never work at a startup again, which left me with another negative impression. In fact, aside from the recruiter, whose job is to highlight the company’s strengths, none of the interviewers went out of their way to share something positive about working there which left me with concerns about the overall work environment. Another concern was their lack of transparency with their online product. I had to request a sample of their online courses, as none are available on their website. When I finally saw a full online lesson for elementary students, it was very underwhelming. While it made use of visuals and some videos to reinforce concepts, the way it delivered the information was unengaging and very dry. Other than very basic interactions and multiple-choice quizzes, there were no fun activities or gamification of any kind (points, levels, badges), and virtually no age-appropriate aesthetics or fun animations that would naturally appeal to young children. I was also surprised when the hiring manager, who oversees the overall curriculum design, admitted that she didn't understand how children could sit through some of the lessons all day. That comment raised serious concerns about the quality of their curriculum design and the company's commitment to delivering engaging educational experiences. For anyone considering a position here, I’d strongly recommend reevaluating and looking elsewhere. These red flags suggest deeper issues within the organization and raise serious concerns for anyone who values their career and long-term job satisfaction.
