Initial phone screen with recruiter, phone interview with hiring manager, 4 onsite interviews. Tone of onsite interviews were unfortunately somewhat negative (I had been very excited about the opportunity entering the process). Despite having substantial relevant background (in my opinion), I was quickly told in my first interview how the interviewer did not find my experience relevant and that I would struggle within the organization. I was taken aback by these comments, as I had not been asked many questions about my background/accomplishments/skill set at that point in our meeting. If that was the case, why was I at the interview? The interview continued but I don’t think it really mattered how I answered any other questions. I believe what felt like a preconceived opinion on behalf of the interviewer was set in stone. In another one of my interviews, I was told about the company culture and how my interviewer had felt they had made a mistake accepting their position at Abbott. Needless to say, that was not confidence building but I guess I appreciated the honesty? The other two interviews were fine, just slightly awkward as the interviewers came unprepared (no questions/copy of resume/etc.). I left the interviews knowing that the culture would not be a good fit for me, and moved on in my process grateful that I knew that ahead of any decision. A month or so later I received a form rejection letter, which was fine. I guess I had expected better communication at that stage in the process, given the time invested.
