I applied through a referral hence the process was quite streamlined in my case. I was contacted by HR about the role and then had a follow up interview with HR and the Hiring manager. Salary expectations were discussed by HR during the interview and this was agreed to before the final offer was issued. HR tried to negotiate down the salary even though the Hiring Manager had agreed to my expectations.
