Entretien
After completing the online application I was invited to an assessment centre at the HQ I had chosen to work at if successful. It was a very relaxed day, we stated off just going around the room introducing ourselves and stating an interesting fact that wasn't on our CV. We then got into the presentations and it was fairly informal. Firstly the interviewer went around the room assigning us all topics for the presentation, topics included were store layout, special buys, marketing etc. Then after the 10 minutes we were asked who would like to go first and we proceeded like this until everyone had presented. We were being timed but some people on my group did go over the time limit quite considerably but our interviewer didn't seem to mind too much. After this we were given a group activity, a job brief was handed out along with perspective candidates' CVs and we had the task to decide who best fit the role. After 10 minutes of reading the brief and CV we went around the room stating the name of who we felt best fit the new position. Then we were given 15 minutes to collectively decide on one name and report back to the interviewer. So the aim here was to basically convince the others that the person you chose was the best person for the job and not the person they chose. I and another person chose the same name and everyone else chose someone different. This was good as we were able to convince the others more effectively as there was two of us making the same points and 'knocking down' their points. You have to be careful here and make sure you show that you can consider other people's opinions whilst conveying you opinions in a persuasive manner. Eventually we managed to convince the group that our choice was the best, but then as we were coming to our final conclusions the interviewer gave us a new CV which divided the group once again. We discussed through the pros and cons and stuck with our original choice and then presented the reasons why we chose this person to the interviewer.
