      Entretien

I was recommended to American General by a friend who knew a branch manager. Am General was looking to hire someone but had not made it public yet at this particular branch. I called the branch manager and we introduced ourselves and set up a time for a first interview. I was asked about my 3 strengths and 3 weaknesses. Asked about a person I worked for that I did not like and what I did about it. How aggressive I was and could I sell products that were "add ons" to loans that made the company a lot of money. Asked if I would be uncomfortable selling loans to people with bad credit because I had good credit. The branch manager was nice but seemed "green" as did I as it was my first interview in a few years. I was at the time an owner of a small business that was closing due to economic conditions. The manager wanted to set me up with a second interview with her district manager and proposed a week out. I did not hear back for well over two weeks. And I called to follow up... I interviewed a second time and was told they would let me know by the end of the week what the outcome would be either way. Two weeks have gone by and I have heard nothing from Am General. Although I heard from my friend yesterday that they were going to call me and that they wanted to recommend me to a restaurant chain for a possible management position through the husband of the district manager I interviewed with the second time... I am not dissapointed about not getting the job. I am however dissapointed with a general lack of professionalism and follow through with what I was told would happen and what actually happened. If I had to guess I would say I did not get the job because "I would have been uncomfortable" pushing loans through for people who have bad credit when I have good credit. I don't know for sure but I was not impressed from the moment I walked in the door for my first interview.
