Avantages

There are some really good people working at the company. The problems you'll work on can be interesting, and the products are used for stuff like tackling financial crime and terrorism, so there's some satisfaction to be had from that.

Inconvénients

A medium-sized company being run like a start-up. The management are not experienced in running a product company, so customers are never told "no". Any customer asks are just done, which means constant firefighting, adding technical debt, and working evenings and weekends. The management have been saying "it's going to change soon" for at least 3 years (I'm told longer). There's no proper system for deciding on pay, bonuses or career progression. It's all done on a "discretionary" basis, which means at the whim of the management. The ones who do well and get promoted are those who have worked with the management before. The strategy changes a lot, and its usually ignored anyway because everyone is working on whatever the latest customer ask is.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about working in Ripjar. We are working hard to build a good culture at Ripjar and we are glad to see you value working with great colleagues and get a sense of job satisfaction from tackling financial crime and terrorism. That's good to hear. We would describe our current size as a scale-up, progressively moving away from being a start-up as we continue to onboard new customers and grow the team. Balancing the growth of customers, technical debt, and embedded processes is something that we recognise as a challenge at this stage of a company's growth. We have specifically taken funding to help us succeed and are actively hiring experienced leaders as well as investing in our Engineering team to enable us to thrive in this exciting sector. With regards to pay and reward, we believe we have put in place a pay policy setting out our approach to ensure equality to all employees and a process for reviewing salaries. When it comes to career progression, we certainly have space to grow given our plans, and we are aiming to map out what this looks like for each job role within Ripjar. We appreciate everything you do for us and thanks again for the time to leave this review.

Avantages

The people are great to work with - smart, driven and fun. Leadership has vastly improved now the previous CEO has left, with a much more stable, calm direction being taken, to everyone's relief, which is beginning to pay off.

Inconvénients

Product leadership could be improved.

Avantages

I left my role of almost 10 years to join Ripjar and I’m glad I did! Whilst we’ve had a period of change which has been challenging at times, we finally have a leadership team in place that care about the future of Ripjar and are committed to making it great. This is the first place I’ve worked where I can honestly say the leadership team listen to their employees. I love working for a company that shares the passion of our products and everyone can see the difference our products can make. Well done for steadying the ship and setting us on course for great success. An exciting time ahead.

Inconvénients

There’s been a period of uncertainty but leadership have listened and actually put changes in place to resolve these issues.
