Avantages
With the recent acquisition by Altisource (Oct 2015) (Investability and RentRange were both acquired) and a very strong product vision, it's exciting to come to work every day and have the resources to help drive that vision forward. The product and development teams have scaled nicely and continue to scale at a controlled but fast pace. The development team is highly skilled and has defined a very strong set of standards around the tech stack including continuous integration and deployment. Recent hires in product development. project management and marketing have introduced a well-defined process for ensuring what is developed and delivered to the customer is the right thing. The process is very inclusive at all levels of the organization which ensures that everyone contributes in generating ideas and has a shared understanding of who our customers are and the problems we are solving for them. So fun! Salaries are very competitive.
Inconvénients
I've been with Investability for over a year now and I've seen the company go through some rough patches trying to figure out who we wanted to be as a company (which made it hard to focus on developing the right thing), but over the last several months (particularly since the acquisition), with the changes noted above, the product vision has allowed the dev teams to stay focused on what we're doing and why we're doing it. There are challenges that all fast-growing organizations experience and Investability is no exception. The development team is scaling up very rapidly. This puts pressure on communication and teamwork and making sure our documentation is clear and easily accessible. The ops team is working very hard to ensure new hires have space and tools they need to work effectively in the quickest amount of time as possible. Space is shrinking and a move to a bigger office (which is supposed to be happening) would be very welcome. Being acquired by a large public organization like Altisource has brought some legal and regulatory challenges, particularly with respect to purchasing and doing deployments. We are adapting to this change. Other than that, for the most part, Investability as a business unit has been able to maintain a healthy level of autonomy.
