Avantages
its not a bad job. there are worse ways to make money. Honestly truly I mean that. As long as you don't fall for the "true to our name" "we're different and we care" rhetoric you will be perfectly happy. If you fall for it, when the rose colored glasses come off you will be sad and feel frustrated.
Inconvénients
"true to our name" is really "true to our bottom line" and that's really it at the end of the day. like I said if you dont fall for the spiel that they are here for more than their profit margins you will do just fine. Claims is the bread and butter of the company and it is one of the lowest paid most thankless jobs there is. You have salaried employees making more than claims, doing less work, ignoring customers and making mistakes and claims is taking the fall for every ball any department drops, which is fine but when it really starts to hit home is when you realize they dont care. We had two hurricanes come through, one was a CAT 4 projected to hit the site head on, Progressive closed the office and then sent an email out saying the office was closed but to remember we work from home and our home location is our office and we should still be working. HOURLY employees if they wanted to evacuate for the hurricane could DOCK their paychecks or take PTO (in this inflated economy when were all living pay check to pay check) but SALARY employees were allowed to clock out and would receive office closing pay... then they went on to say "if you lose power please think of alternative solutions to be able to report to work" again though only for hourly employees anyone making salary was taken care of. it wasn't until after the hurricane hit and AFTER we returned to work the following week that they decided "just kidding we will go ahead and pay you aren't we so thoughtful" meanwhile all of our spouses who worked from home for other companies, their companies were sending them home Tuesday fully paid to be able to evacuate and make the best choices for their families. I often wonder how many people stayed when they should have evacuated because they didn't have PTO and couldn't afford to dock their income.. Their health insurance is also riddled with fines.. I am paying an additional $650 a year for my health insurance because MY DOCTOR said due to pre existing heart conditions I am unable to take the COVID-19 Vaccine but they have decided me being non vaxed due to my doctors orders is a burden on their premiums... Honestly it's a company and a corporate company and that's all there is.. They have you chasing your tail for an 8% salary bonus at the end of the year (if that) while the CEO gets a 100% salary bonus if you hit their numbers. just remember its a job - dont drink the kool-aid and you will be just fine.
