      Can be flexible if you work with the right department.

      Inconvénients

      Pick and choose your departments carefully. Be sure to research your managers/directors reputations on campus before accepting any positions. Must be prepared to take control of your own career trajectory. There is no guidance for employees unless you build the right relationships. Very political, be ready to play the game.

      Avantages

      High quality core facilities and well resourced labs. Countless brilliant colleagues who can serve as mentors and collaborators

      Inconvénients

      Students and Postdocs are expensive due to high overhead, so unreasonably high productivity is often expected compared to other institutions. PIs are typically stretched very thin. Most departments/labs are very space limited which makes it harder to do safe and productive research.
