Avantages

Pay, perks, benefits. Work here if you want to have money but be unhappy.

Inconvénients

Insight is one of the most poorly managed firms I’ve ever encountered. Leadership is disorganized and lacks competence. They over-hired aggressively in 2022 and have since conducted repeated layoffs across both the investment team and operations. Senior employees are often let go for political reasons rather than performance, and internal conflict runs deep. The culture here is toxic. I’ve seen people’s personalities change for the worse—becoming selfish, cutthroat, and secretive just to survive. On the operations side in particular, there are too many employees competing for too little meaningful work, which breeds unhealthy rivalries. The firm’s strategy is equally unstable. Investments in projects are made without clear direction, and priorities constantly shift, leading to endless reorganizations and wasted time. Insight treats its people like cogs in a machine: retention is driven by pay and perks, not genuine respect or development. If this is how they treat employees, I can only imagine how poorly portfolio companies are managed. My advice: stay far away.

Avantages

There are a handful of smart, hardworking colleagues who do their best to survive the chaos. Working with them was often the only bright spot in an otherwise dysfunctional environment.

Inconvénients

The company engaged in massive over hiring in 2022 with no real plan for how to use employees’ skills effectively. Managers with little to no experience were pushed into leadership roles and provided no training or support. Toxic behavior was routinely ignored, and in some cases rewarded. HR complaints about bullying, especially toward women, were brushed aside, and one such individual was later promoted. Reorganizations were constant but rarely had any real strategy or execution behind them. The organization was weighed down by layers of middle managers with weak technical skills, which led to cut throat infighting as people scrambled to “own” projects and remain relevant. The org chart lacked accountability, and my direct manager made no effort in my final year there to provide guidance or show interest in my work. On top of this, the company has gone through multiple rounds of layoffs over the past year, further eroding morale and trust. Ultimately, it has become a toxic environment driven more by politics and self-preservation than by genuine leadership or collaboration.
