Avantages

- Great colleagues -- from more than 40 different countries around the world - Discounts on HelloFresh boxes - Office is in the heart of Berlin

Inconvénients

- There is HUGE turnover. An exodus of people is starting to occur at the end of this year (2018), and it doesn't seem like management is planning to do anything anytime soon. I hope they do something at least by next year, or this will be highly disappointing. - Management/C-level is focusing too much on making money (last year, was too focused on acquisition - and this year, they are panicking over retention of our customers). With this, they've stopped caring about the actual product and the people who work at the company. - There is a lack of proper transparency. It seems to me that everything is "going well" according to management. - Communication is a huge issue within the company. Teams are working in silos when they should be talking to each other to create a holistic product. - They claim that "customer trust" is one of the main principles that we need to focus on within the company, but this doesn't seem to be the case. - They also claim that there are opportunities for people to get raises and promotions. This is not true. My current team has to write a one page letter to try to justify why we should get a raise. - The office is not conducive for work. There is lack of air in the "loft" area upstairs -- people are having issues working properly due to this. In turn, they created a "fresh air policy" -- whereby the windows are opened three times during the day, leading to other people getting sick. It's a lose-lose situation. - The office is not built to allow for communication across teams. This causes more animosity between HQ and their global constituents. - People can disagree with me on this, but there is slight ethnic nepotism. Those who are German seem to have more of a say to the CEO.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback - I apologise for the delay in replying. Although it was not all positive, it was valuable and I think we can take a lot away from it. Many of the points you make (internal communication, communication between HQ and the rest of the group globally, transparent communication from management, transparency around promotions/raises) are all issues I’m also concerned about which is why I am focusing on them as the new VP People at HelloFresh. On many of these topics, we have achieved strong progress over the last months and together with a new, stronger HR team I am confident we can make a positive difference and continuously improve the employee experience in a number of ways. Reading through your feedback, I was also happy to see that you value our international team as much as I do. I also think having great colleagues is one of the best things about working at HelloFresh. Finally, if you are still a current employee, I’d invite you to come and make an appointment with me to continue this discussion in person. Best, Johannes Willberg VP People, HelloFresh Global

Avantages

Flexible hybrid environment. In-office requirement is 50% of the month, but there is significant autonomy in how those days are scheduled (eg. you can decide to condense your in-office days the first 2 weeks of the month, and work remotely for the next 2 weeks).

Inconvénients

1- Compensation (particularly base salary) is significantly below market. Reliance on RSU as a major component of the compensation package is problematic, given the company’s stock has severely plummeted over the last 5 years (and continues to do so). 2- Professional development is virtually non-existent. Internal promotions are rare (even for top performers) and highly political. 3- Constant reorganizations and frequent layoffs. It is difficult to feel secure in your position when entire teams are being phased out every few months. 4- Toxic and fear-driven culture. There is a prevalent culture of backchannel feedback and a palpable, constant sense of fear regarding job security and retaliation. 5- Unsustainable business model, still. Service is overly reliant on discounting and promotions, which has negatively impacted brand perception and long-term customer value. Path to sustainable growth is unclear. Leadership also doesn't seem to know what to do, as they frequently pivot strategy, with new directions introduced every few months (if not every few weeks). This lack of consistency creates a sense of instability and leaves teams feeling as though the company lacks a cohesive, long-term vision. 6- Leadership tone. Leaders often lack respect for both employees and the customer base (it is common for them to make derogatory and insulting comments in business meetings about customers who cancel their service).
