Avantages
It's a job. As an attorney who isn't doing legal work, the pay is decent. You can wear jeans to work because you don't actually see anyone; all of your work is done by phone and fax.
Inconvénients
The company advertises that attorneys handle the files from beginning to end, but this is false. Attorneys are not actually doing legal work. Attorneys are on the phone constantly with insurance adjusters and personal injury attorneys trying to recoup money for the health plans. It is essentially a call center. Attorneys are given approximately 1,500 files to work with daily productivity goals that must be met. A year-end bonus is dangled in front of you to work harder, but the environment is churn and burn. The work is tedious and very repetitive. There is NO variety, no analytical thinking, no legal work whatsoever. As an attorney, your title will say you're an attorney, but you'll realize that you're very much like a debt collector.
