- Low salary
- Hype-driven. Management tries to push you towards hot topics: big data, cloud, ai, whatever is the current hype.
- Outsourcing setup. You have zero impact. You do what you are told to do. All the important decisions are made on the client's side.
- Pointless, boring projects without any vision.
- Staff augmentation. Sometimes you are the only epam employee in your team.
- Lack of job safety. Projects are not stable. Ramp-downs happen every now and then. Bench time can be stressful. Sooner or later you have to accept a position at a bad project to get off the bench and avoid layoff.
- Promotion process is slow, painful and is often tied to internal education programs at higher levels. You have to put in extra time besides you normal work duties. A lot depends on the feedback you get from your coworkers. Good relationship to your immediate colleagues matters more than your skills and performance.
- No opportunity for improvement at experienced levels. The company is unable to get projects that are challenging enough.
