You will be nothing nut a number to the company and a pay increase will cause union dues and insurance cost to rise. no matching 401K for contract employees. Insurance cost have risen from no out of pocket and $15 co-pays to $240 per mo. $2k deductible and $75 co-pays in 8 years. with only aa $3 per hour rise. I have almost 20 years invested and though the company's profits continue to rise the moral of the people who are doing the construction and maintenance is at an all time low. There was a time in my career i looked forward to going to work.
