Inconvénients

To many kids in high school or college, horrible young teen atmosphere. To much drama and nonsense.

Avantages

This is actually a pretty good place to go for a first job, or if you have been a low level employee all your life and would like a leg up. The sales experience you receive is invaluable, and you learn great selling techniques. Also, you can be promoted very quickly if you sell a lot, which can look very good on your resume.

Inconvénients

The point of sale process can be summarized in one word - stupid. You need a whole lot of information from your customer that they often don't want to give, and is not required by law nor is it required for a cellular contract. A great example would be an imprint of their credit card even if they are paying in cash. If your customer doesn't have a credit card with their name on it, they cannot buy from you. Additionally, their handsets are priced extremely high. They even charge customers sales tax for the full retail price of a free phone, which is hardly competitive. I started a sales rep, then became an Asst. Manager, then Store Manager. By the time I was an Asst. Manager I was working practically every day, and very long hours at that. I probably spent 2 - 3 hours on the phone with my reps while I was "off," and I was not allowed to claim that time on my hours. And even if I could, it wouldn't be helpful. You are paid on a Commision Vs. Hourly system, which means in order to make commision, you have to make more commission that your hourly pay, which is pretty difficult. And even them, because of the exchange, it's not a whole lot of money and hardly worth it. However, not making commission gets you fired. Turn over rate is massive! In the two locations I worked at someone was fired nearly every week. Worse of all, the company often does not pay your commissions and bonuses the way they say they will. They find loop holes, and sometimes flat out lie. Senior management certainly isn't rude, but they are crafty, and can make it look like your going to have a huge check, when really it's only a short step above minimum wage. There were even a few times when our checks would arrive late.
