Avantages
*NONE* All of the good reasons for working here have vanished over the past few years. In years past, engineers were valued employees and it was possible to enjoy a technical career. Recently a ceiling seems to be preventing engineers from going over a level 4 labor grade. Options used to be available to transfer to different divisions in other areas of the country but with sequestration going on, there seem to be very few openings anywhere.
Inconvénients
The medical insurance offered is so bad it's virtually non-existent. There are no choices, only an Aetna administered plan is available. Deductibles are $2,500/yr. In-plan doctors are extremely hard to find or get appointments with, especially one that speaks English. Nearly every division in the company is experiencing high levels of layoffs and threatening to reduce salaries of many remaining engineers in the 4th quarter of this year. Many long-term employees (over 20 years) have been laid off this year with only 2 weeks notice. Very few people have received raises over the past 4 years.
