Avantages

You have the opportunity to work with some very intelligent, yet friendly people. Compensation is decent for the area and benefits aren't horrendous. Work can be complex and interesting.

Inconvénients

Company is struggling to pay off debts, let alone turn an appreciable profit due to an ill-advised reliance on coal generation. This is leading to an increasingly understaffed workforce in all groups. Training is sub-par and work can be monotonous due to administrative burdens. Senior management struggles to adapt to changing market conditions.

Avantages

FirstEnergy is a big company with a lot of growth that I've seen firsthand. Employees are helpful and all have the shared goals of keeping reliability of the electric grid. The pay is decent and stays competitive with the market rates as they do reviews consistently and evaluate. Its a great company that is trying to do better after misguided leads hip in the past

Inconvénients

Some executive leadership vision is not shared with lower level employees. The recent transition from WFH back to the office has left employees such as myself wondering why its not role based WFH.

As covid came upon us, sharing the time in-office was necessary but challenging however the team effort worked well so we could all get our required work done
