Avantages

Pour la plupart, les étudiants sont motivés et ont de bonnes habitudes d’étude. Dans la phase initiale du travail, les membres de l’équipe que j’ai rencontrés étaient amicaux.

Inconvénients

Un certain nombre d’entreprises d’enseignement en ligne exigent que vous suiviez une formation non rémunérée dès le départ. C’est le cas de TLC. Cependant, les processus sont généralement clairs par la suite et ce fardeau du travail non rémunéré ne se poursuit pas au-delà de la formation initiale. Ce n’est pas le cas avec TLC. Leurs processus administratifs sont incroyablement complexes, même pour les tâches les plus simples (facturation, planification d’un cours à une nouvelle heure). Il y en a plusieurs. Pour les esprits les plus brillants (je dit un peu en riant) vous devrez encore passer littéralement des heures à essayer de comprendre leurs processus et les remplir. Cela implique de revoir les modules de formation, encore de documents, des réunions/Whatsapps supplémentaires et des formations organisées par TLC (toutes non payées). Ceci s’ajoute à la planification extrêmement détaillée des cours requises, car, bien que les matériaux ne soient pas fournis ou sont inadéquats/difficile a trouver, difficile à trouver car il y a un grand nombre de documents en ligne dans divers formats et ceux-ci ne sont pas bien organisés, il y a d’innombrables objectifs d’apprentissage pour chaque cours et un grand nombre de documents internes doivent être croisés pour comprendre les objectifs et les compétences spécifiques sur la base desquels chaque cours individuel doit être planifié. Dans l’ensemble, tout cela entraîne une charge de travail irréaliste et beaucoup de travail qui n’est pas couvert par la rémunération, certainement en dessous du salaire minimum français. De plus, le contrat ne semble pas solide, en termes d’heures contractuelles, car ces heures ne s’appliquent pas lorsque les étudiants sont occupés! Les enseignants sont invités à recueillir des données sensibles auprès des élèves, ce qui peut être contraire à nos lois et directives. Lorsque des préoccupations ont été soulevées auprès du personnel (qui semble être principalement basé en Grèce), aucune aide n’a été fournie et l’attitude, initialement amicale, était inflexible, répéter les mantras ou slogans de l’entreprise qui ne reflètent pas l’éthique réelle. J’ai d’abord pensé que c’était une petite entreprise qui a grandi et traverse une période de changement car les processus qui étaient autrefois gérés par une seule personne sont maintenant délégués à une équipe qui n’est pas tout à fait prête. Cependant, le revenu de l’entreprise et sa longévité parlent contre cela et je devrais être d’accord avec d’autres personnes qui ont dit que c’est probablement un travail abusif des autoentrepreneurs. Dommage!

Regarding unpaid work, we want to clarify that TLC only requires a short mandatory onboarding training of approximately five hours for all new teachers. Beyond this initial phase, any additional training is entirely optional and intended for those who wish to grow within the company. We also provide a structured pay-rise pathway for teachers who choose to engage in professional development modules, allowing them to increase their earnings as they progress. Lesson preparation expectations remain aligned with standard freelance teaching practices, and we continue to improve the accessibility and organization of our teaching materials to better support planning. Concerning administrative procedures and invoicing, we are actively reviewing ways to streamline and automate steps to reduce the time required from teachers. We also take any mention of data protection very seriously; our internal guidelines are aligned with GDPR requirements, and we are committed to ensuring that teacher and student data is handled appropriately. Avantages

- Some of the staff and students are very nice - Materials for teaching and some training is provided - CDI contract - Good part-time job for students in uni who won’t stay in France long-term and/or have a student visa and cannot register as an AutoEntrepreneur - Volunteer work opportunities and socials to meet other teachers

Inconvénients

- Parents are paying high rates and teachers are paid a small fraction of this amount, so the expectations are too high compared to the remuneration - Lessons can be far apart and there is no pay for transport time - Courses rescheduled at last minute not paid, even though teacher spent time traveling to the lesson - Materials are not complete and contain spelling mistakes - Communication unclear and little support when issues arise with difficult students - Little room for growth - Much easier and more profitable to set up your own company as an AutoEntrepreneur and choose your own clients

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that pay is an important factor, and we want to provide some context regarding our business model. As an employer, we are responsible for significant costs beyond teacher compensation, including taxes and operational expenses. While we strive to offer competitive compensation, it’s important to note that these costs are substantial, and the company’s profit margin is limited. Regarding lesson scheduling, we ensure that lessons are not scheduled far apart. According to French labor law, lessons must be within 15 minutes walking distance/public transportation from one another, and we strictly follow this regulation. Additionally, per French labor law, teachers are compensated for their transportation costs, which is outlined in all contracts. We also continuously work to improve our curriculum and strive for the best quality materials. If there are issues with the materials, we take feedback seriously and aim to correct them. In terms of support, each teacher is assigned a qualified mentor to guide them throughout the year. We believe in clear communication and provide consistent support for teachers, especially when challenges with students arise. For lessons that are canceled last minute, we ensure that teachers are paid for their time, as per our policy. Regarding career growth, there are clear opportunities for progression within the company, including pay raises after completing the training programs provided. We encourage all teachers to take advantage of these opportunities to enhance their careers.
